Now I understand that the situation is grave and the coverage must reflect apposite gravity but how about showing a little RESPECT folks?
Innocent people have lost their lives for no fault of their own, and all the media can do is think of clever little captions like “Mumbai Massacre”, “India’s 9/11” etc. The more sensational the name, the more interesting the spin and the more ratings the news channels garner. This vulture-like behaviour sickens me to the core.
Oh and get this, some news channels have already begun playing the blame game; they’re conducting debates with blowhard celebs trying to determine how ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ are to hold the administration accountable for its failures.
Listen, I am as pissed off as the next person at this sloppy, lazy administration that allowed this tragedy to occur, but I want to reserve judgment until I have confirmed information. I mean the situation on ground hasn’t even been entirely resolved yet.
How about we first apprehend the perpetrators, get CONFIRMED information on what motivated these attacks, who is behind them and how this operation went completely unnoticed by intelligence units, before we start pointing fingers.
The media likes to pretend that it is an uninvolved third party merely reporting events as they happen and having no effect on the outcome whatsoever, but the media needs to wake up and face reality. They are a significant catalyst in the resolution or aggravation of such events than they’d like to admit and they therefore need to be more responsible with their coverage.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
